Solavei Changes Rate Plans

Well, it looks like Solavei has shifted around the prices and data on its rate plans again. I’m not really sure exactly when this happened, as I only noticed it the other day, and unlike the last change I haven’t really seen as much negative response to this shift. But, I’ll let you decide. Here’s a list of Solavei’s plans. All plans include unlimited talk and text, and the changes are in bold.
  • $24  – no data (new plan)
  • $29  – Unlimited low speed data and 100 MB of high speed data (formerly included no data)
  • $39  – Unlimited low speed data and 1 GB of high speed data (formerly 500 MB)
  • $49  – Unlimited low speed data and 3 GB of high speed data (formerly 2 GB)
The more expensive and unpopular $69 plan, which included a whopping 4 GB of high speed data and made exactly zero people happy to be with Solavei, was completely scrubbed from the plan lineup. As I said before, though, while the current plan changes are definitely positive, I’m not sure it really makes Solavei any that much better than anyone else. Solavei seems to be one of those companies that you either love or hate, with very little in between. The company itself pays users in free service and monetary compensation for enrolling friends and family. There are a lot of people who claim to be making enough money to support themselves simply from commission alone. I don’t know too much about it, and the responses seem to be pretty polar: either customers seem extraordinarily positive, or they simply say to stay away. Either way, Solavei has been slowly picking itself up since last summer, when it declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which simply means that the company cannot pay its debts. The company has since undergone some internal changes, most of which have not really been released or discussed with the general public as well as changes to its compensation plan. The $29 plan is completely gone now, too. So there are only the 3 plans available. But the biggest news that nobody talks about is how the new compensation plan throws almost all current business builders under the bus. Those who were just last fall paying their mortgages with proceeds from large Solavei network marketing earnings, are now – as of Feb. 12th – earning roughly 50-80% less. Those who worked full time for 2 1/2 years to promote Solavei are now reduced to “hobby” status financially – and most are moving on. Basically, Solavei’s new compensation plan is literally gutting the company.

The Solavei website still has the $29 plan (see the link in the article), so I’m going to leave it listed for now. If they remove it, I’ll update the article.
And I had heard that the compensation plan was completely shifted around (and I did skim the huge PDF listing out the changes), but I didn’t realize it was that much of a cut…
